Plans for Controlling the Red Fox:
Plan 1- Baiting: non-conventional food will be injected with 1080 poison. The food will be brought to areas that need control. Baits will be either buried or left on the ground in intervals. They should not be placed closely together so the fox can keep eating the baits and tracking them. Plan 2- Dingoes are currently being controlled through exclusion fencing, trapping, poisoning, and shooting. If we can reduce the amount of this, there would be more dingoes that can prey on the red fox. Dingoes are also highly adaptable, so they can be brought to red fox habitats. The red fox is scared of dingoes because the dingoes have been seen to only kill the red fox but not eat it. Since the red fox is scared of dingoes, habitats with dingoes can serve as a safe place for the prey of the red fox. |
